...good indeed to hear that I am not the only one that thinks Video Game Music is neat..

Really don't or rather haven't paid much attention to the names of the music or who makes/produces it..

For me where I am at/have been at, more say, BackGround~Music.

I really like Acid Mothers Temple and Boris. Not exactly video game music but both bands are Japanese and have unique sounds.

The only synth-pop Japanese band I think of off the top of my head that I know fairly well is Yellow Magic Orchestra. They were pretty big there in the late 70's/early 80's.

Oy-hells yeah for Mary Elizabeth McGlynn!! Yoko Kanno is brilliant also! I knew that she did the music for Ghost in the Shell, but she also did the music for Cowboy Bebop, which I didn't know until, like, last week!-lol Utada Hikaru did several versions of a song wich, in Japanese, the name is "Passion", for the Kingdom Hearts 2 game, and there's a really awesome song from a Tales of Symphonia game called "Starry Heavens", by Day After Tomorrow. I've gotten into Nana Kitade also. She did the first ending for FullMetal Alchemist, and she has another song called "Alice" that's awesome (that's one of the ones I'm learning the lyrics to, actually.-lol I have two more with me right now that I had made into braille-one is "Shiki no Uta" and the other is "Sond Life", which is Rem's song from Trigun).

Yes, Utada is one of my favs as well. I have both Passion (the Japanese version) and Sanctuary (eng version). Yoko Kanno also did the music for Macross Plus and Wolf's Rain. If you haven't heard those, you don't know what you're missing! :)

Oh cool!-I've heard one song from Makris, but I'm not sure of the name of it. I also love the music from Inuyasha (the song "Every Heart" by BoA pretty much kicked off my JPop obsession!-lol) Samurai Champloo, Eureka7, and Bleach have some awesome music too.

I like a lot of japanese rock and metal including x japan, Pierrot, and visalla. I have other cds but don't recall the names of the artists. As for video game music, I love the newer final fantasy and castlevania music, I don't know the guys who did it but the guitar and keyboard work is really good! I want to find the full length CDs. i know they are out there but they seem hard to find.

I'd look on EBay for just about anything, and they have tons of anime and JPop-related stuff. That's where I get all my box-sets from. If you can't find the soundtracks there, you could probably find them on

http://www.yesasia.com

I use that site a lot!

I'm a huge fan of Video-Game Music, Final Fantasy has always had great music, but I think 10 and 12 are pretty awesome overall. I also loved the Legend of Zelda Theme Song and Ganondorf's Introduction Theme and Battle Theme, when you fight him at the end of the game.

GameBoy Advance Legenmd of Zelda and Final Fantasy Games are pretty good. I enjoed the music through Legend of Zelda: The Minish Cap. Alright you got to admit that the Pokemon Games had some bad ass music. Right and that's about that I really liked as far as Gaming Music goes.

Guitargod1, I bet Boris would be right up your alley. They're eaily one of the most prolyphic bands around now. They've put out material that ranges from straight-up rock to doom metal to shoegaze to drone; the albums Rainbow and Heavy Rocks are great starting points. Pink is another solid album worth picking up. Another band in that same vein is Guitar Wolf. Melt-Banana are excellent too. They just got done opening a string of shows for Tool. I'd say they're a little more rooted in punk/hardcore. If you're looking for something more psychedelic, check out the bands Ghost or DMBQ. So much awesome innovative rock/metal coming out of Japan!
